Nanotechnology has many proponents with many different views of what nanotechnology is. The different viewpoints range from extensions of current technologies in computer chips to visions of nanotechnology as the supreme ability to manipulate matter. My opinion is that nanotechnology will eventually be somewhere in between. Currently, we don't have the abilities predicted by people like Eric Drexler, but that doesn't mean we won't get there.

There don't seem to be any scientific constraints preventing our manipulating individual atoms to construct structures and devices with precision, so I do believe we will develop ways to do just that. The path from our current technology to nanotechnology should be interesting.

Initially, I developed this site to help me keep up with developments in nanotechnology and to clarify my thoughts on the subject. Hopefully the site helps answer your questions on nanotechnology too. If you want to use anything from it as a reference, feel free as long as you cite it (and if you'd like, send me a note too). If I make a mistake, send me a message so I can correct it.
